Although the Inspector General's report on Fast and Furious cleared Attorney General Eric Holder's name of any wrong-doing, House Oversight Dragon Darrell Issa is "vowing" to continue his witch hunt.
House Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is vowing to continue pursuing Attorney General Eric Holder’s contempt of Congress citation in court and said the report is all the more reason to continue his own probe with new zeal.
Issa will “absolutely” continue pursuing the civil lawsuit attempting to compel Holder to hand over more documents about the gun-running investigation, spokesman Frederick Hill said.
The Inspector General's report named names and pointed fingers in the right direction, and several Justice Department officials resigned after the report was released.
Much to Darrell Issa's chagrin, the report did not say Eric Holder was responsible for policy born under the Bush Justice Department in 2006, nor did it blame Eric Holder for the program being hidden from him, or blame him for the misbehavior of border agents.
If Democrats regain control of the House in November they should hold Darrell Issa in contempt just for being Darrell Issa. An investigation into how much time and money he has wasted on this witch hunt would also be appropriate.
