The good news is 2014 will be Darrell Issa’s last year as chairman of the Witch Hunter’s Committee. The great news is he’s going to spend it pursing the same fruitless and fake scandals he has spent the past several years pursuing.
More specifically, Darrell Issa wants you to know that he’s not quite done fucking that Fast and Furious chicken just yet. And while the Obama administration is content with closing investigations after it has been established that there’s no there, there, Darrell Issa believes the case is never closed unless it’s closed on his terms.
“The administration wraps up investigations. We are done when we are done … there shouldn’t be any sort of effort to load in or unload” before his term limit of six years as the top Republican on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee ends in December. [...]
“I’d like to have Fast and Furious be a closed case,” Issa said, pointing out that the courts are still reviewing access-to-documents disputes between Republicans and the administration.
But don’t be under the mistaken impression that this is the last you’ll hear from Darrell “Witch Hunt” Issa.
“On my last day in office as chairman, I may very well be sending out a letter opening an investigation, and the next chairman on his first day may have yet another reason to send out a new letter,” Issa said.
The next chairman of the House Oversight Committee may or may not be as much of a liar, failure, and ethically-criminal as Darrell Issa is, but I will enjoy a tall glass of a schadenfreude the day he passes on the gavel and he still hasn’t found the impeachment he spent years looking for.
If true justice exists in the world, Democrats will win back control of the House of Representatives this year and then investigate Darrell Issa for numerous ethics violations.
There’s plenty of time left between now and December and I expect Issa will conjure another phony scandal before his time is done.
