Apparently, Deutsch has been hosting the former Shuster hour with a series called "America the Angry." In a montage of angry TV hosts, Deutsch included a clip of Keith Olbermann, which apparently convinced MSNBC to yank Deutsch and cancel the series.
The Times' Brian Stelter reports that "four people briefed on the decision said the cancellation stemmed from an unflattering mention" of Olbermann. Deutsch had included Olbermann in what Stelter described as "a series of clips of media bloviators during a segment that pondered what role the media plays in fomenting the public's anger." Deutsch also hosted Hugh Hewitt, who called MSNBC's Ed Schultz a "hate-monger."
So Olbermann is angry and Ed Schultz is a "hate-monger" according to... Hugh Hewitt?! Are you kidding me? I would've fired Deutsch simply for allowing that guy on the air. Deutsch seriously invited Hewitt on the show to blast "hate-mongering?" Hewitt's arguably one of the wingnuttiest wingnuts out there. What happened, Donny? Couldn't book Michael Savage or Gordon Liddy to accuse MSNBC hosts of being over-the-top?
