Fiscal Conservatism!

The Republicans have resumed their drumbeat for extending the Bush tax cuts for the rich.

And they have no intention of paying for them. Again.

Jon Kyl:

But you should never have to offset cost of a deliberate decision to reduce tax rates on Americans.

Eric Canter and Judd Gregg:

Sen. Judd Gregg (N.H.), the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, joined House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) in pushing for the extension of a series of taxes set to expire at the end of this year, including a series of cuts for households making more than $250,000 per year.

So making sure Americans can afford healthcare is evil -- even if it's deficit neutral. But cutting taxes for the rich and adding a trillion dollars to the deficit is awesome.

It's likely the Democrats and the White House will make the middle class tax cuts permanent, and that's fine. Everyone earning more than $250,000 will have to cope with their oppressive and tyrannical year 2000 tax rate! An extra 2.6 percent on the top margin tax rate will surely bring about the end of the world! IEEEE! And by the way, is anyone in the top tax bracket seriously paying the actual marginal rate and not a much lower effective tax rate?
