The entire show has been "It's McCain's fault!" and "It's media's fault!" and "It's the meltdown's fault!"
Brit Hume and his melty face are suggesting that the media coverage has been exponentially more favorable to Senator Obama, while specifically targeting the meltdown as the reason why Obama is winning at this point.
First, if McCain and Palin happen to generate more screw-ups and insanity, wouldn't it stand to reason that the news coverage would be more negative? Of course it would.
Second, if we're going to play this game in terms of news events shaping the election, then we have no choice but to suggest that Iraq and 9/11 re-elected George W. Bush. We have no choice but to suggest that inflation and unemployment and the Iranian hostage crisis elected Ronald Reagan. We have no choice but to suggest that the unpopularity of LBJ and Vietnam elected Nixon.
The fact is that while the economic crisis is bad for the incumbant party, the Obama campaign has simply outclassed and outmaneuvered McCain's schizoid, accident-prone operation.
