Why has McCain appeared on G. Gordon Liddy's radio show multiple times?
Last November, McCain went on his radio show. Liddy greeted him as "an old friend," and McCain sounded like one. "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family," he gushed. "It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."
Wow. A convicted Watergate burglar. I wonder if McCain is proud of the fact that Liddy instructed his grandkids to fire handguns at pictures of President Clinton, or at cardboard cutouts of Senator Clinton. Or I wonder if McCain is proud of Liddy's awesome tips for killing federal agents.
I used to work 10 feet away from Liddy every day at WJFK in Washington. His nickname for me was "High Pockets." Seriously. But whenever I watched him do his show through a pane of soundproof broadcast glass, I cursed him with every obscenity in my vocabulary.
