Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) remains on ALIPAC president William Gheen’s naughty list because he supported immigration reform that one time before turning against his own bill, but Gheen is proud that Rubio has turned to the dark side and is now quoting Gheen.

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who like Paul has expressed interest in running for president in 2016, voted in favor of SB 744 but has been talking lately as though he is against amnesty.
“He’s out there right now quoting my lines. He was on Sean Hannity’s show a couple of weeks ago and my lines are suddenly on the lips of Marco Rubio,” Gheen said.
My level of schadenfreude is indescribable as this is exactly the kind of thing that will prevent Republican candidates from winning the White House.
In Rubio’s case, notorious xenophobe William Gheen acknowledged that Rubio has turned against immigration reform and is even quoting Gheen at this point in time, but Gheen insists that Rubio will remain on the naughty list.
“Once you go on the list, you’re always going to be on the list. You don’t get any second chances,” Gheen said. “Once we put you on that list, we are going to do everything in our power to make sure you are never elected or re-elected.”
William Gheen does not have the power (only in his dreams) to sway an election or even a nomination, but I believe Gheen’s list is more rhetorical than physical and I believe the lunatic base of Republican primary voters adhere to it.
Republicans such as Marco Rubio and virtually every other would-be presidential hopeful have turned against immigration reform in an effort to court the base, but that is exactly what will prevent them from winning the general election. The only candidate who will survive the process of elimination will be backed into a xenophobic corner and anyone who previously supported reform won’t have a chair when the music stops.
Two years from now the wealth of opposition research that will have accumulated against the Republican nominee will be immeasurable because they started pandering for votes years ahead of schedule. The Republican primary popularity contest began in earnest in October of 2013 if not before that.
In case you’ve forgotten — William Gheen says President Obama orchestrated the surge of immigration children who will serve in the Secret Skrull Invasion to end America as we know it. Or perhaps not as the president is already destroying America we as know it.
Are those words on Rubio’s lips? They may not be now, but they will be in 2016.
