Glenn Beck's holy heavenly lawn concert tomorrow takes place at the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool at the west end of the National Mall in Washington.
All it is run and maintained by the National Park Service.
The National Park Service is part of the Department of the Interior. And here are some things Glenn Beck has said about both:
Every single department, from the department of the interior to the FDA to the department, everything, all of this stuff is a progressive idea. The UN is also progressive. It is the idea that people cause the problem and if we could just get the little people to just stop, government could solve the problem.
Hmm. A progressive idea. You're welcome.
And from the Glenn Beck radio program:
STU: I didn't do that. I would never do that. But the guy in Woodrow Wilson's era called Theodore Roosevelt had a lot he's supposed to be this big Republican that people like John McCain love. And the thing that people credit him with is the national park system. And while that land is beautiful and there's a lot of great things to love about parks, think about what a national park is. I mean, just as a conservative, how could anyone I mean, I understand if you are a liberal, you might like it. But I mean, as a conservative why would you want a park owned by the federal government?
GLENN: Especially when they are putting zones, buffer zones all around the parks. They are gobbling more and more land. Now, we learned from Thomas Sowell, the economist, what happens when you make more and more land unavailable. Prices of homes go up.
On selling off state and national parks to private corporations:
Well, there's a guy who has come to the forefront and he said, I'll run them for Arizona. You know, I'm going to sell concessions and everything else. I'll make money. I'll pay the state.
Sounds like a win-win, because the state gets to keep the park. Just have somebody else run them as a private business.
