House Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy swears he "did not intend" to say the Select Benghazi Committee is political even though that's exactly what he said.
“This committee was set up for one sole purpose: To find the truth on behalf of the families for four dead Americans. Now, I did not intend to imply in any way that that work is political, of course it is not. Look at the way they have carried themselves out.
As a refresher, this is what McCarthy originally said:
"Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right?
But we put together a Benghazi special committee. A select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known that any of that had happened had we not fought to make that happen.”
McCarthy says critics should "look at the way" the committee has "carried themselves out."
I'd gladly invite you to do the same.
