This isn't anything we didn't already know, but he probably regrets saying it in such uncertain terms.
House Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy appeared on Sean Hannity's show where he directly credited the Select Bullshit Committee for harming Hillary Clinton's poll numbers.
McCARTHY: "What you’re going to see is a conservative speaker, that takes a conservative Congress, that puts a strategy to fight and win.
And let me give you one example. Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right?
But we put together a Benghazi special committee. A select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known that any of that had happened had we not fought to make that happen.”
The Select Benghazi Committee and is a taxpayer-funded exercise in opposition research with no oversight value. There's no "there," there. It's a witch hunt based on a conspiracy theory based on another conspiracy theory.
Which conspiracy theories exactly? You could probably ask each member of the committee and be told a different one.
Hillary Clinton's poll numbers may be down among the general public, but most polls show Democrats still have a very high opinion of her. I don't believe anyone who truly cares about Benghazi conspiracy theories was ever going to vote for Hillary Clinton anyway. I also believe the Republicans have blown their load far too early and, through their own actions, have turned this entire charade into a punchline.
It seems plausible to me that Republicans have swallowed so much of their own bullshit on Benghazi that they've convinced themselves the Select Planned Parenthood Committee will have similar, imagined results.
