Mitt Romney held a rally in Denver last Monday in which he accepted the endorsement of John Elway. Thousands of supporters gathered to see Romney and Elway and, as a special added attraction, the rally included an invited guest performer, Laurie Morgan.
Morgan is a country singer who entertained the crowd of cheering Romney supporters with a stirring rendition of "Dixie" -- the "de facto" national anthem of the Confederate States of America. I'm not making that up. A Romney rally included a performance of the Confederate national anthem. Yeah. Of all the country songs, I wonder why this one was featured at a Romney event -- in Colorado no less.
