Congressional Republicans hoping they could blame Democrats for a partial government shutdown ran into a problem this morning.
The problem is Trump announcing that he would be "proud" to own a shutdown.
“Yes, if we don't get what we want, one way or the other [...] I will shut down the government. And I am proud to shut down the government for border security, Chuck."
You can see that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is visibly pleased by Trump's willingness to own a shutdown.
Just because Trump said this today doesn't necessarily mean we will see a partial government shutdown on December 22nd, but if we do it's clear who's responsible for it.
