Is our children learning?
We jest, but it appears increasingly likely that despot-elect Donald Trump will make former President George W. Bush look good.
Trump spoke to Fox News and confirmed that he skips the overwhelming majority of intelligence briefings afforded to him, but he said he doesn't need to receive them because he's smart.
Trump said he gets briefings “when I need it” because “I don’t have to be told — you know, I’m, like, a smart person. I don’t have to be told the same thing in the same words every single day for the next eight years. Could be eight years — but eight years. I don’t need that.”
It may be true that daily intelligence briefings often contain repeat information (I don't know, I've never received one!) but we don't have to guess what can happen when a president skips or ignores briefings.
We also don't have to guess how Trump will respond if there is a successful terrorist attack on his watch. Trump will blame the same intelligence community he's currently attacking and ignoring.
Nothing is ever Trump's fault.
