Indiana Governor Mike Pence (R) ordered an investigation of Planned Parenthood almost immediately after the fraudulent videos were release and, not surprisingly, the investigation turned up nothing.
From the Associated Press:
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Department of Health has closed its investigation into Planned Parenthood facilities that perform abortions in the state, notifying the three facilities that investigators didn't find any violations of regulations in the disposal of fetal remains. [...]
Letters from the health department to the three Indiana facilities dated Tuesday said the agency was "unable to find any non-compliance with state regulations." The letters say the complaint is closed.
My first reaction was to say 'of course they didn't find anything,' but it also occurred to me that weeks-long investigations cost money, meaning Governor Pence wasted an unknown amount of taxpayer money chasing the ghosts of a deceptively-edited video.
Can state taxpayers get a refund on that investigation?
On the bright side, Planned Parenthood clinics in Indiana have been officially cleared of wrongdoing even if the investigation was initiated under false pretense.
