Jeb! Bush appeared on Face the Nation yesterday and said Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump is playing the media "like a fiddle" and that Trump is "playing on people's fears."
He's not wrong about Trump, but don't be fooled. Jeb! says he plans to vote for him.
Bush said he will still support Trump if he wins the party’s nomination, but admitted the
prospect of a Trump presidency is “kind of scary.” [...]“Look, I’ve said – because anybody is better than Hillary Clinton, let me just be clear about that. But I have grave doubts about Donald Trump’s ability to be commander in chief,” he added.
Jeb's doubts apparently aren't "grave" enough to warrant voting for someone else.
This is one reason, among many, why the rest of the GOP presidential field has been unable to dislodge Trump from his frontrunner status.
They say Trump is wicked and uncouth, but they more or less share Trump's policy positions and they aren't willing to say they will vote against him. At least not publicly.
I'm not even an authentic frontier Republican and I'd say their opposition to him looks weak and timid.
