Jeb! Bush tells us a Donald Trump presidency would be "scary," but Jeb's doubts about Trump's sanity aren't enough to dissuade him from voting for Trump over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Not everyone at Team Jeb feels the same way, however, and one of his billionaire donors purchased a full page advertisement to announce his intentions.
“If I have a choice — and you can put it in bold — if I have a choice between Trump and Hillary Clinton, I’m choosing Hillary,” Miami healthcare magnate Mike Fernandez told the Miami Herald on Friday. “She’s the lesser of two evils.” [...]
“You have no idea how furious I am with my friends in the Republican Party who have embraced this guy,” Fernandez said.
I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth and every vote for the Democratic nominee is certainly appreciated, but I do wonder if Mister Fernandez's head is completely up his ass.
As far as policy positions go, Donald Trump may not even be the worst Republican presidential candidate. And other candidates, such as Mike Huckabee, have given Trump a run for his money at least in rhetoric if not in poll numbers. At one point or another, virtually every candidate has said or proposed something appallingly bad.
The truth is there really isn't a great deal of difference between Trump and most of the Republican presidential field.
I can't imagine this will improve Jeb's standings among the party faithful and if his numbers continue to drop he may not even qualify for future debates.
