Sales of Budweiser, the "King of Beers," have sagged far below its domestic competitors for many years, having been dethroned as the "king" a long time ago, but now sales of Bud Heavy have even fallen below that of craft brews.
In an attempt to reverse this trend, Busch has renamed the beer from Budweiser to "America," at least temporarily.
"Murica," if you prefer.
According to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, this ridiculous marketing gimmick was inspired by his greatness.
"Mr. Trump, do you think you had something to do with Budweiser changing the name of their beer over the summer?" co-host Steve Doocy asked on "Fox and Friends," mentioning Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.
"I think so. They're so impressed with what our country will become that they decided to do this before the fact," Trump responded during the phone interview.
I assume Budweiser will distance themselves from Donald Trump lest they be closely associated with a racist fascist, but I could be wrong.
Who else would you hope to attract other than a Trump voter by renaming your beer to America?
