Beyond the Republicans who only care about budget cuts when Democrats control the White House, the only people who are feverishly pushing for austerity measures are Very Serious media people and DC elites who happen to be very wealthy.
Thankfully, the president intends to make them pay for their fetishization of austerity.
In addition to calling for higher taxes for those earning more than $250,000 per year, the Wall Street Journal reports that the president has his sights on "changing parts of the tax code he thinks benefit the wealthy."
