If John McCain were my grandmother, I would be worried about him. I mean, this guy makes senility-type mistakes on a daily basis. FEC, SEC. Spain, Latin America. Iran, Iraq.
And those are just the big ones. McCain no longer talks to the press he so loved to barbecue for -- why? Is it out of a fear that his temper will explode all over them in a spitting, slobbering mess? Or is it out of fear that he will start singing "Daisy, Daisy" over and over again in a monotone as he stares into the middle distance?
I'm being snarky, but let me be serious for a moment. If John McCain were my grandmother, I would be talking to my mom every day; I would be getting a CT-scan; I would be writing down all his mistakes to talk to an Alzheimer's specialist about. That's what we did when my grandmother starting mixing things up, and losing her words, and having bizarre outbursts of temper. My grandmother died of Alzheimer's disease.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe McCain is fine, just needs a little more sleep. Here's a way we could find out: let doctors see his medical records. His 1,173 pages of medical records. But John McCain won't do it.
What is John McCain hiding?
