Government officials in Mexico City have unanimously voted in favor of banning Donald Trump.
Unfortunately, city officials cannot enforce a ban on Trump, but they hope their call for action will pressure the Mexican government to do so.
Deputy José Manuel Delgadillo of the conservative National Action Party noted that the proposal was a way to urge Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to more forcefully confront Trump.
“What we’re saying is that if he wants to build a wall so that Mexicans can’t enter his country, then he is not welcome in our country,” Delgadillo said, according to the publication. “What we need now is for President Peña Nieto to make a strong statement condemning Mr. Trump’s anti-Mexican comments.”
Mexico may not officially ban Donald Trump, but Finance Minister Luis Videgaray has ruled out paying for Trump's luxurious border wall. Videgaray participated in an interview on Wednesday when he said "Under no circumstance will Mexico pay for the wall that Mr. Trump is proposing."
While I don't believe Donald Trump will win in November, there is a possibility of that happening. I was going to make a joke about Trump becoming the first president to be banned by another country, but then I remembered George W. Bush and Dick Cheney never leave the country because they might be arrested.
