I had no idea that Mike Huckabee’s Reagan, Thatcher, Pope John Paul II Tour was a real thing that exists, but apparently it is and does.
Huckabee’s overseas tour stopped at Auschwitz and Birkenau last week and, as one does, speakers on the tour said America could become the next Auschwitz.

Huckabee, who has repeatedly warned that the U.S. is transforming into Nazi Germany, invited Kitty Werthmann of Eagle Forum to discuss her experience living in Austria during the Nazi takeover.
Werthmann frequently travels the country speaking about what she sees as similarities between President Obama and Adolf Hitler, warning that Obama is ushering in Nazi-style tyranny and urging people to stock up on guns: “Keep your guns and buy more guns.” She also believes that Obama and Mexican immigrants are planning a Marxist “revolution” and told one Tea Party group, “I heard President Obama say anybody who is criticizing him, report it to the White House, the snitch program, so be careful what you say.”
She offered a similar message to Huckabee’s tour group, according to the Christian Post, which also drew a comparison between Nazi Germany and the IRS and a Houston court case involving a LGBT nondiscrimination ordinance.
Comparisons between the fake IRS non-scandal and Nazi Germany are old news at this point, but this comparison between the nondiscrimination ordinance and Nazi Germany tickles me to no end.
If you’re a regular reader here, you’re probably familiar with the the Houston case which was called the “anti-gay Alamo” by Georgia GOP House candidate Jody Hice.
Houston-area churches petitioned to put the nondiscrimination ordinance up for a vote in hopes of repealing it, but they failed to gather enough valid signatures. Opponents of the ordinance claimed their signatures were valid and they filed a lawsuit against the city. The subsequent subpoena of records sent area lunatics into a frenzy and drew national attention from Hate Radio.
Even though the subpoenas were recently dropped, this is just like Nazi Germany according to Mike Huckabee’s death camp tour.
I can’t imagine that anyone who died at Auschwitz would feel honored by modern wingnuts comparing their fate to a challenge of a nondiscrimination ordinance.
That is unless you actually believe that baking a wedding cake for a gay couple is just like a Nazi death camp.
