You mean, there is such a thing as a “reasonable” Republican?

(Walks off and laughs hysterically for several minutes, composes self, and then returns)

No, reasonable Republicans were purged during the time of Bush the Dim Son. If there are any left, they’ve been pushed to the far margins by the Tea Party (which, contrary to what some of the MSM believe, is an organ of the Republican party, not some “grassroots” movement).

I think it is well within the right of the elected government to cut off funding to abortion providers. If the people of Indiana don’t like it, they can vote the officials out of office next election.

So let me get this straight …you think it’s A-O-K for these teafuckers to make it harder for people to get healthcare services in their communities ?? thats mighty rightwing of you Steven. It is an attack on women in general and poor women Especially. Not Cool, not even fiscally responsible, or even logical. To defend this kind of Misogyny shows your true colors

Robert,

To answer your first question….that is her problem to solve, not mine. I can figure out how to go to the doctor and I’m certain the hypothetical woman you are speaking of is just as capable as I am. To the second question…no, I live a couple states over and am far too busy with my own life to give anyone in Indiana a ride anywhere. As to your third point, I have family in a small town in Indiana, and they have doctors there that accept medicaid. I know, because the family there is on medicaid. My nieces and sister in law receive all the gynecological care they require.

Where ?? This decision will have a huge impact on poor women all over Indiana as stated above by the # of clinics that will be closing their doors all over the state. what the hell is a woman of limited income , that doesn’t have personal transportation supposed to do when the clinic in her community closes ?? are you going to provide transport to one that does?? what you say about Medicaid patients being able to have access to the services they used to get at PP in Teafucker run states like Indiana is Bullshit, PP offers services that are not available in many of the area’s they operate clinics in. IT IS A HUGE FUCKING DEAL

It is. That Mitch Daniels can be labeled a moderate only reflects the fact that he’s, at least by contrast with people like Newt Gingrich and Chris Christie, reserved and doesn’t make a lot of noise nationally. At least for the time being, it makes him a close-to-perfect mole for the GOP. He can sign such bills in Indiana–hardly at the forefront of national political news–and nobody knows about it (or pays any attention) until it’s too late.

Nobody in the national media cares what happens in Indianapolis any more than they care in Topeka, where I live, and where Sam Brownback has advocated and signed a bill full of a slew of nonsense regulations that apply solely to clinics that offer abortion services. These require onerous building codes that, in many cases, would take thousands of dollars and many months to comply with. The bill was signed in May and takes effect July 1. The Kansas Department of Health and Human Services has already drafted the regulations and has notified the three (I think) Planned Parenthood clinics in the state, all located in the Kansas City area, that they’re due to be inspected July 3. If they fail these inspections they have to close their doors until they can pass. This effectively ends the availability of abortions services in Kansas. Hear any of this in the national media? I didn’t think so…
