(Hang with this one. It starts out slow, but by the 1950s, you're going to freak out at all of the nuclear tests that were taking place -- too many of which were on the American mainland. All of that radiation had to go somewhere and it turns out that we all have traces of the radioactive isotope strontium-90, which comes from Chernobyl and all of those nuclear weapons tests.)
