Good move, Starbucks. Associate your brand with a self-absorbed torture sadist. Smart! Here's a great way to multiply your visibility, now that you're committed: sponsor every time Joe talks about when he was in Congress. "It's the tenth time this hour I've mentioned that I was an awesome congressman once -- presented by Starbucks."
UPDATE from Monday night and Tuesday morning after the jump...
UPDATE: New video from Monday night:Adding... I threw some questions Joe's way on his live chat this morning. Suffice to say, he didn't respond to any of them."When are you going to call for Scott Roeder to be tortured, considering he's revealed a broader terrorist plot to murder more doctors?""How many people has Starbucks laid off in the past year? And yet they can still afford to sponsor the show. Good people!"
Joe Scarborough: I'm a big fan of Charles Krauthammer and appreciated his call for civility in the Supreme Court hearings. Let's debate the issues and stay true to constitutional conservatism, but do so without anger and hyperbole. I also love Peggy Noonan's columns in the WSJ.
"Wait - Is accusing one of your colleagues of being 'too stupid to be on TV' considered hyperbole or anger?""Yeah, Krauthammer isn't about hyperbole, which is why he said Hugo Chavez is 'Obama's pal.'"
Joe Scarborough: It is the key issue. The harshness of their tone coupled with their reckless spending has created a toxic mix. They must return to classic conservatism and find the middle of America temperamentally--like Reagan.
"Keep looking to the future, Joe! A president from 20 years ago is all about the future!"
Joe Scarborough: ...Keep the federal government out of our wallets and out of our bedrooms.
"But shove it right into our daughter's wombs, right Joe?"[Joe refers to himself in the third person on the show.]"The Republicans need more pundits who refer to themselves in the third person."[Joe mentions Reagan repeatedly on the air.]"The future of the Republican Party can be found in the wisdom of Taft!"[Commenter "John" writes: "? is chat down?" Moderator replies, "Joe is on the air right now."]"Yeah, John, to find MSNBC, flip through the channels until you hear 'Reagan'."
Joe Scarborough: I would like to see more diversity in the media. After six years in the business, I can tell you that the overwhelming majority of reporters and executives are left of center. That is not good for America and it's bad for media companies.
"So are you suggesting, Joe, that all of these "left of center" media people aren't professional enough to leave their ideology at home? Nice of you.""Wow. A whole 12 responses. Any more quotes from your book you'd like to pass off as 'chat', Joe? Hope you didn't pull a muscle.""Joe and a Gitmo detainee in the same city. Are you scared Joe? Any compulsion to torture the guy?""Hyperbole and anger: 'The second Dana Priest wrote her article and we had this debate on waterboarding, we were moving towards not using waterboarding again. We don't - these techniques are worthless now anyways, so if planes go into buildings, well don't blame Barack Obama, blame Dana Priest and the chaos that occurred after that cause that was - when her article came out, from that point forward, this secret CIA program was dead on arrival.' --Joe Scarborough"
