Someone with Twitter should remind Mr. President Scarborough that the public option isn't a "left" or "liberal" position. It's a position supported by almost everyone. The left, in fact, mostly wants single-payer and we compromised to achieve the public option. We just refuse to budge at this point. It's time for everyone else to meet us here.
What Joe is doing is deliberately painting the public option as a liberal cause -- and therefore somehow ugly and swishy -- in order to make it distasteful to centrists. It's a sleazy political trick.
Oh yeah and by the way, according to the latest SUSA poll, 77 percent of all Americans think it's important "to give people a choice of both a public plan administered by the federal government and a private plan for their health insurance." According to the AARP, 80 percent of Independents support the public option. How is this indicative of a liberal position?
Adding... Mika just said that "both sides" use "ridiculous distortions" on healthcare. I'm not familiar with any "ridiculous distortions" from the left on healthcare. There's just no chance. Please explain, Mika. Name one thing from the left that's anywhere near as ridiculous as Palin's death panels or Beck's reparations.
