Do we want leaders who are everyday folks, or do we want leaders who understand everyday folks? Therein lies an enormous difference, one that could decide the presidential election and, if McCain and Palin were to win, shape the governance of the nation.
As I've written several times over the last week or so, it's not just the advancement of a hooplehead, it's the advancement of a hooplehead at a time of significant crisis. Eight years ago, peace and prosperity might have excused the elevation of George W. Hoople. But electing Palin at this crossroads in American history would be nothing less than self-destructive.
