New Jersey governor and Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie sought to exploit the closure of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) during last night's primary debate and he somehow reached the conclusion that it was President Obama's fault.
CHRISTIE: "The second largest school district in America in Los Angeles closed based on a threat. Think about the effect that that is going to have on those children. When they go back to school tomorrow wondering, filled with anxiety about whether they're really going to be safe. Think about the mothers who will take those children tomorrow morning to the bus stop, wondering whether their children will arrive back on that bus safe and sound.
What is Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton done to this country, that the most basic responsibility of an administration is to protect the safety and security of the American people."
In not so eloquent terms, I'm going to explain why Christie is just as big of a fucking idiot as LAUSD officials. I know there are people out there who believe school officials made the right call, but I can't accept that.
The hoax threat emailed to school officials came from an @cockmail email address hosted by the 8chan troll forum and the IP address was apparently traced to Frankfurt, Germany.
If using a "madbomber@cock" email address wasn't enough of a giveaway, the threat claimed exactly 32 attackers would detonate bombs with cellphones and deploy "nerve gas agents." It's not as if you can buy nerve gas at the supermarket.
If you're going to blame anyone for this, you have to blame school officials. If you blame the president, you're essentially saying he's responsible for every incident where public officials fall for a ridiculous hoax.
If we're going to jump at every shadow, American school children are going to end up with more hoax days than snow days.
