Oh Shut Your Hole, Brokaw

Insufferable Tom Brokaw on the Olbermann situation at MSNBC:

"Where it got sticky is when our commentators were anchoring political coverage," he said, in a clear reference to Olbermann. Brokaw was widely known to have complained about Olbermann's anchoring of campaign coverage during the 2008 race. "Those are, in some ways, incompatible roles," Brokaw continued. "We worked our way through that."

First, it's MSNBC. Not the network news. There's a difference. NBC News has always played it straight during political coverage on the network, and it's always been more cavalier and opinionated on cable. Secondly, is Brokaw going to suggest that only non-opinionated anchors cover elections on MSNBC? If so, who will that be? Of course this is impractical. The point is that Brokaw is singling out Olbermann because Brokaw doesn't like his style.

By the way, I wonder how many more times Brokaw will appear on Morning Joe -- groaning and slurring his way through opinionated discussions.
