This is a bit much even for a group of people as distinguished as they in the art of corruption.
Andy Coulson, the former editor of the News of the World arrested on suspicion of involvement in phone hacking and bribing the police, was receiving payments from News International after starting work as the Conservative Party’s Director of Communications, the BBC reports. Coulson’s received hundreds of thousands of dollars in severance payments until the end of 2007, which means he continued to be financially linked to the UK division of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp for several months during his tenure as David Cameron’s main media adviser, the BBC reports.
Mister Coulson was still on the payroll of Murdoch's News Corp. while serving in the Cameron Administration as his closest media adviser.
It doesn't get much more blatant than this. And they either assumed no one would ever find out, or they simply don't care.
Either way, I'd consider this a fairly major blow to the credibility of the Cameron Administration. And if they didn't know he was still on Murdoch's payroll, they should have.
