During an interview with Capital New York, MIT Professor Jonathan Gruber, who was one of the chief architects behind "Romneycare" in Massachusetts, had some harsh words say about Mitt Romney's efforts to distance his own healthcare plan from President Obama's healthcare plan.
“The problem is there is no way to say that,” Gruber said. “Because they’re the same fucking bill. He just can’t have his cake and eat it too. Basically, you know, it’s the same bill. He can try to draw distinctions and stuff, but he’s just lying.”
I still haven't seen a good explanation for how Mitt Romney escapes his own healthcare plan.
His own party will not allow him to run on it or against it, because improving access to healthcare is for socialists, and running away from your own bills looks weak and disingenuous. He's backed into a corner.
The GOP will be fighting the 2012 election with one hand tied behind their back because the only candidate who is electable at the national level is un-electable at the local level.
