Republican presidential candidate and fake libertarian Rand Paul has launched an attack ad that hits fellow candidates Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio for being too soft on Syrian refugees.
Rand's ad even features a clip of Ted Cruz quoting The New Colossus; the poem engraved on a plaque at the base of the Statue of fucking Liberty.
Get a load of this Call of Duty bullshit.
Some have refused to learn from mistakes.
Cruz: "We have welcomed refugees, the tired huddled masses, for centuries. That's been the history of the United States and we should continue to do so."
[...]
But Rand Paul sounded the alarm.
Listening to Rand Paul bleat about his ineffectual protests really clashes with the Tom Clancy music and kills the feel of the entire ad. Tell me more about there not being "enough scrutiny" Captain Buzzkill.
The New Colossus reads, in part:
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
