The measure, called the Paycheck Fairness Act, would limit an employer’s defense in wage discrimination claims and set regulations for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for collecting compensation and employment data from employers. Republicans argued it would drastically limit an employer’s ability to defend itself against pay discrimination claims.
Finally, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has reportedly ordered the Pentagon to make China the center of defense policy.
“This directive from the Secretary is ultimately about getting the Department’s house in order and ensuring that the department lives up to the stated prioritization of China as the number one pacing challenge,” explained a senior Defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of the announcement.
Through the directive unveiled Wednesday, the Pentagon will assess U.S. alliances and partnerships, deterrence, operational concepts, emerging capabilities, future force posture, technology, and civilian and military workforce. [...]
When pressed for more details, the official added that the initiatives created by the directive will largely remain classified.
Although it's completely outside of my regular wheelhouse, I've taken up a side project of writing free verse poetry. I can't claim I know what I'm doing, but that's why I chose the free verse format. A free verse poem can be anything you want it to be.
