This election isn't over and Senator McCain could still win this thing. Americans have an historical penchant for voting against their own financial best interests. So don't ease up. Don't give any Republican the benefit of the doubt or an inch of breathing room. Just don't do it.
But now that Senator McCain is way behind and guys like Ed Rollins and George Will and David Frum are throwing in the towel, you'll begin to hear crying from the far-right about why Senator Obama is winning. The economy. If it wasn't for the economic meltdown, they're saying, Senator Obama wouldn't be winning.
Well, first, that's not true. Look at the daily tracking poll averages. McCain was only ahead for a few days after the Republican convention and Senator Obama began to surge again prior to the late September 777 point drop.
Regardless, here's a bit of rapid response ammunition for that one, and it has the added benefit of being true...
