Do the American people support torture purely for political reasons? That is the operative question.
I'm eager to see polling on that one. Torture clearly wasn't a factor in keeping us safe, otherwise the Bushies wouldn't have stopped torturing in 2004 (as far as we know). So what other reason is left? Political. It was used to construct a lie -- a massive fraud. How many American voters would support that as a justification?
