By now you’ve probably heard of the wingnut Bundy militia still roaming rural Nevada and setting up check points.
Responsible people would like them to see them disperse and go home, but Representative Chris Stewart (R) isn’t a responsible person; he’s a fucking lunatic.
Stewart has proposed a bill not to disarm the batshit militia, but to disarm the federal agents tasked with standing up to them.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) said his proposal was in response to the armed standoff between the impromptu militia that supported Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and officials from the Bureau of Land Management.
Stewart, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, plans to work to cut off funding for federal “paramilitary units,” as he called them, within agencies like the BLM and the Internal Revenue Service.
This kind of unhinged and irresponsible rhetoric makes me absolutely livid.
Referring to our own federal agencies as “paramiltary units” and attempting to disarm them so they can’t do their jobs. Who needs foreign enemies when you have saboteurs like Chris Stewart?
Stewart’s plan to enable the inmates by disarming the guards will never become law, but the damage may already be done. Stewart may as well be Sean Hannity on Fox News warning people that a raid is coming.
