NBC News reports that Russian tool and Vladimir Putin lover Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) is being investigated by special prosecutor Robert Mueller.
More specifically, the prosecutor's team is investigating a meeting and communications between Rohrabacher and former Trump adviser adviser Michael Flynn.
The meeting allegedly took place in Washington the evening of Sept. 20, while Flynn was working as an adviser to Trump’s presidential campaign. It was arranged by his lobbying firm, the Flynn Intel Group. Also in attendance were Flynn’s business partners, Bijan Kian and Brian McCauley, and Flynn’s son, Michael G. Flynn, who worked closely with his father, the sources said.
Mueller is reviewing emails sent from Flynn Intel Group to Rohrabacher’s congressional staff thanking them for the meeting, according to one of the sources, as part of his probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
To say that Rohrabacher is a Russian stooge is not hyperbole, at least not as far as the GOP itself is concerned. Congressional Republicans leaders recently stripped Rohrabacher of his authority to conduct official business on the government's dime. Congressional Republican leaders including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy were also caught on tape "joking" that Rohrabacher is on Putin's payroll so this is hardly a liberal conspiracy theory.
The only surprising thing about this is that it didn't happen sooner. Rohrabacher may be closer to the Kremlin than his own government and he has traveled to personally meet WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
With all of that said, this doesn't necessarily mean the meeting between Flynn and Rohrabacher concerned Russia, at least not directly.
Other reports have have stated that Mueller's team is very close to filing charges against Michael Flynn, in part, for operating as an unregistered foreign agent for the government of Turkey. Turkish president Recep Erdoğan has emulated Putin in recent years and attracted many of the same fans. That may include Rohrabacher.
