60 percent of self-identified Republicans support a path to citizenship for immigrants unless President Obama is responsible for passing it, in which case only 39 percent support a path to citizenship.

I jest, but from my perspective this is a clear indicator that racial animosity is perhaps the biggest obstacle the nation has to overcome to finally do something about immigration. If it weren’t, I would expect to see an equally egregious divide on the other issues included in the poll.
