When Congress returns from recess next month the two chambers will have just 10 days of legislative session to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government and avoid a shutdown, among several other things, but congressional Republicans also plan to vote to repeal Obamacare if they have time.
Congressional Republicans are reportedly drawing up plans now to hastily bypass committees and repeal the landmark healthcare law as quickly as possible.
Under the approach being discussed, the Senate would act on a House-written reconciliation bill to overturn the health care law, rather than going through the laborious steps it would take to write and debate its own measure.
An accelerated reconciliation schedule would take less time away from what lawmakers say are essential laws they must pass during an increasingly jammed legislative schedule. That includes finding a way out of an impasse over the fiscal 2016 spending bills, reviewing President Barack Obama’s Iran deal, passing highway legislation and extending tax breaks.
Congressional Republicans are well aware that President Obama will not sign a bill to repeal his own signature law, but they're determined to squeak a vote in between other votes on things that actually matter.
It's possible Congress will vote against the Iran peace deal and against Obamacare within the span of a week. Their apparent mission is to ensure the world will see as much death as possible.
