The News Chief Political Correspondent of Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network(CBN), David Brody, indirectly lays out the logic behind the media narrative currently saturating the airwaves, and, as White luck would have it– it totally vindicates Republican party acts of treason, just in time to manipulate public opinion and steal some elections. Sorry for all the billions they’ve squandered while simultaneously attacking poor peoples’ food rations and access to healthcare, but it was all worth it:
President Obama and the Democrats love to bash the Tea Party and those pesky, unruly constitutional conservatives. They are fond of saying how the Tea Party will be responsible for the Republican Party’s demise.
However, in a cruel twist of fate, thanks to the disaster that is Obamacare, it looks like the Tea Party may actually be responsible for massive gains by the GOP in the 2014 Midterm Elections.
Why? Have you read the headlines about Obamacare since it rolled out? This is exactly what Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Tim Huelskamp and dozens of others predicted would happen. It looks like those “Wacko Birds” are going to be proven right.
And when that happens, two things happen: the Tea Party movement gets another serious injection of credibility and that very well may translate into electoral success in November 2014. Meanwhile, President Obama has egg on his face after these Obamacare debacles. This is all setting up very nicely for the Tea Party.
Say it! Say it was worth it, Media! And nobody gets hurt!:
Because Health.gov rolled out during a years-long government shutdown with some glitches, and the G.O.P.’s ubiquitous flak machine is demanding to know why health insurance corporations could be dropping people from their coverage(Well, I never!), Steve Benen recognizes that a pattern has emerged:
Someone will claim to be a victim of the Affordable Care Act; their story will be amplified by major news organizations; the public will be given a new reason to dislike the law; and then the entire story will be debunked – though the truth will receive far less attention.
Writing for The L.A. Times, Michael Hiltzik writes:
Obamacare critics are going to town on the cancellation letters millions of Americans are receiving from their health insurers, informing them that their health plans won’t conform to the new federal standards for health coverage as of Jan. 1.
We’re supposed to be scandalized by this, since President Obama himself assured everyone that if they liked their insurance they’d be able to keep it. And people just love plans that in some cases cost just $50 a month. At that price, what’s not to love?
Back in March, Consumer Reports published a study of many of these plans and placed them in a special category: “junk health insurance.” Some plans, the magazine declared, may be worse than none at all.
I have no idea why Right wing conservatives would care about insurance companies dropping people to try to grandfather them into more expensive plans without better explaining their options and new protections. They all seem like such honorable industries working hand in hand to make as much money as possible for health insurance CEOs, which we can all agree is the most trustworthy model we’ve ever known, according to terrible people everywhere.
But because both Democrats and Republicans are equally guilty of denying people healthcare coverage, the media wants you to know that the Republican party was just trying to crash the economy to prevent Obamacare from denying you your right to rescision and ‘junk insurance’ policies because they care.
It all makes perfect sense if you have chronic punch-me-facey-itis, which we’re just now starting to realize Obamacare might not cover. Because it’s a failure.
