Florida senator and Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio spoke to infamous wingnut radio host Glenn Beck and said he respects a woman's right make decisions about her own body except for those times when he doesn't.
“Look, I recognize this is tough issue and I actually do believe that a woman has a right to choose with her body,” he added.
But...
“The problem is that when there’s a pregnancy, there’s another life involved and that life has a right to live. And so, as policymakers we have to choose between two competing rights, and I’ve chosen as a matter of principle to choose life in that debate.”
In other words, Rubio has chosen not to believe that a woman has a right to choose.
There's no debate here. You either do or you don't, and Rubio does not.
Regardless of who the eventual Republican presidential nominee is, they will almost certainly be locked into a strict anti-choice position with little to no room for maneuvering. That may be the popular position on the radical right, but I don't believe the general electorate in 2016 will elect a strictly anti-choice president.
