Republicans love, love, love this "run the government like a business" silliness because it makes them sound like grownups. Of course there are numerous reasons why government simply can't and shouldn't be run like a business. Laurin Manning has a good one that hadn't occurred to me:
Don’t most—if not all—well-run businesses seek to grow? Don’t Republicans want to shrink government? Isn’t a business that is shrinking an unprofitable one?
