Sarah Palin is one step closer to shrink-wrapping herself.
With a reality show and two books under her belt, Sarah Palin has become a one-woman industry, and now she's seeking to protect her brand.
As Politics Daily's Suzi Parker reports, Palin recently filed paperwork with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark her name, as well as the name of her oldest daughter Bristol, who's become something of a celebrity brand in her own right.
When I first heard this story on Hardball today, I thought it might be something every celebrity does, along with registering domain names and incorporating. But according to the above article, very few celebrities trademark their own name. So Sarah Palin is an outlier.
And does this mean we have to pay royalties to Sarah Palin every time we print her name? I hope so. I'd love to blog about the fact that Sarah Palin wants me to pay to use Sarah Palin's name. And no, as you can see, I don't intend to add the "TM".
