You've all seen Mitt Romney's fantastical claim that President Obama actually wants the price of gas to go up. That President Obama assembled a secret task-force, which may or may not have been comprised of secret-Muslim Marxists, that plotted to raise the price of gas to force Americans into adopting the Chevy Volt.
It's a ridiculous notion that was rightfully mocked by President Obama himself when Fox News' chief White House correspondent Ed Henry asked him if there was any truth to the claim.
But even if that were the case, a juicy Mitt Romney quote from 2006, dug up by The New Republic, reveals that once upon a time, Mitt Romney was also totally in favor of high gas prices.
“I don’t think that now is the time, and I’m not sure there will be the right time, for us to encourage the use of more gasoline. I’m very much in favor of people recognizing that these high gasoline prices are probably here to stay.” [Quincy Patriot Ledger, 5/06]
He's very much in favor, for Pete's sake.
