Media Matters flagged this clip from Sean Hannity's radio show yesterday where he offered to buy President Obama a plane ticket to Kenya.
HANNITY: "I have an offer for the president. I will charter a plane for you and your family. I will make sure it's as big a plane as Air Force One, what you have grown accustom to, in other words. Taxpayer-funded plane. I don’t know where I’m going to get it. Maybe I'll ask Trump if I can charter his plane for Obama. I will charter Donald Trump's plane if he'll let me, and I will charter it to the country of your choice. You want to go to Canada? I'll pay for you to go to Canada. You want to go to Kenya? I'll pay for you to go to Kenya. Jakarta, where you went to school back in the day, you can go back there. Anywhere you want to go. I'll put the finest food, caviar, champagne, you name it. I have one stipulation, you can't come back."
Why would Sean Hannity think President Obama is planning to move to Canada?
Hannity apparently fell for a fake, satirical news story that said the president was considering moving to Canada if Donald Trump wins the election. The president would hardly be the only one to consider doing so and far from the only one to make a similar joke, but any person in their right mind would consider checking to make sure the president actually said that before blasting him for it.
President Obama never said he was considering moving to Canada, but Hannity definitely offered to fly him back to Kenya. Because, you know, that's his real home, right? Get it?
I know the editorial standards at Fox News are exceedingly low, but it's difficult to see how the network justifies keeping Hannity on board after the election. Moderate, non-racist conservatives, if such a thing exists, should hope Hannity is jettisoned after the race. He's a poison on the electorate and shameless propagandist who will gladly promote the next Trump wannabe.
Hannity was called out by journalists on Twitter last night for his dumbassery to which he replied that he is not a journalist.
Good to know.
