So It’s Really Not a Gun Control Bill At All. Not Even Close.

Benen reports on what actually passed:

Sen. John Barrasso’s (R-Wyo.) amendment to punish state or local governments that disclose gun owners’ information passed 67 to 30, followed by an unusually lopsided vote.

That’d be a pro-gun measure, of course.

And here’s a measure suggested by Wayne LaPierre in his weird post-Sandy Hook speech.

The Senate voted 95-2 for an amendment to the gun control bill that would address mental health issues.

It’s not an awful idea in and of itself, but in the absence of any other real restrictions on gun proliferation, it’s absolutely the very least they could do.
