Here's a decent charity that works exclusively to collect and distribute shoes to people in need.
In the U.S., needy recipients include domestic abuse shelters, Navajo/Hopi reservations, inner city hospitals and, of course, homeless shelters. And in third world villages...
Many women walk as many as five miles one way to get to the water source. On the return trip they carry as much as 50 pounds of water back to their village.
