Iowa congressman, secret border control agent, and man who can't forget what he buried in that cornfield Steve King is no fan of Pope Francis.
Steve King is a climate change denier so, naturally, he has a problem with a Pope who not only believes in climate change but has also called for action the stop it before it kills millions of people. But that is not the only problem King has with Pope Francis.
“I think that it would be better for the Vatican to focus more on theology, and less on this thing that they've now had to have a name change from global warming to climate change,” King said. [...]
“We've heard some things from Pope Francis that are not fully supportive of free enterprise capitalism. That should be a problem from an American perspective,” he said.
King went on to say Pope Francis should respect the American economic system because it's "on our immigration test."
I don't have any idea why the Pope should care about what's on our immigration test or why he should defer to whichever economic philosophy we follow. As far as I'm aware, Pope Francis is not planning to immigrate to America and it's not as if Steve "Calves the Size of Cantaloupes" King would welcome him into the country if that were the case. Pope Francis is from South America.
It has never been more apparent than it is now, as Pope Francis visits Washington, that lawmakers who claim to be driven by their faith have little to no connection to or understanding of their faith.
