The House of Representatives has passed a stopgap spending bill to prevent the government from shutting down this coming Friday. The new stopgap measure extends funding another three weeks, but at the end of these next three weeks, things could become dicey. The new funding extension bill received 70 fewer votes than the last one, and it's entirely possible that the next extension will receive even fewer yet again.
It appears that some on the Right side of the chamber aren't very happy about their abortion and healthcare language being left out.
The House of Representatives just passed stopgap legislation to prevent the government from shutting down when funds expire on Friday by vote of 271-158.
House conservatives staged a mini-rebellion over the CR, which they say doesn't sufficiently slash discretionary spending, and doesn't contain key Republican policy measures -- including abortion restrictions and a rescission of funds to implement the health care law.
Overall, 54 Republicans broke ranks with GOP leadership and voted against the measure. A total of 85 Democrats voted for the measure. It is expected to pass the Senate late this week.
Disagreements over abortion and healthcare aren't going to go away and I highly doubt John Boehner’s ability to control his own party.
Actually, I doubt the ability of anyone to control them. Have fun in the primaries, Republican candidates!
