Notice that taxes on average Americans have been relatively flat since the 1940s while taxes on the wealthy have dropped as much as 30 to 40%. And as we all know, none of them actually pay the top marginal tax-rate of 35%.
Average Americans do not have the luxury of living off of capital gains and dividends which are taxed at a much lower rate.
Question: While conservatives and Teabaggers are fantasizing about a return to an America more representative of the 1950s, do they leave out the part where they were paying much higher taxes?
