How have Texas state officials reacted to the Supreme Court ruling against their restrictions on access to abortion?
Indicted fraudster Attorney General Ken Paxton reacted by saying the Supreme Court has denied them the ability to "protect women's health" even though the court made it abundantly clear that the state's restrictions had no impact at all on women's health.
It appears the Abbott administration did not discuss a joint or coherent response to the ruling because, in a contradiction, Governor Abbott himself put emphasis on access to abortion in a very brief press release.
“The decision erodes States’ lawmaking authority to safeguard the health and safety of women and subjects more innocent life to being lost. Texas' goal is to protect innocent life, while ensuring the highest health and safety standards for women."
This is significant because the state's entire case in front of both the 5th Circuit Court and the Supreme Court was predicated on the idea that the law was about protecting women's health, not limiting access to abortion. As far as the state was concerned, severely limiting access to abortion was just a coincidental side effect.
Smirking shitkicker Ken Paxton stuck to the script in his response by emphasizing women's health, but Governor Abbott made clear what we already knew: it was all about abortion.
Thankfully, a majority of the court saw through the bullshit and ruled against the state; because they knew what the Abbott administration's true intentions were.
